______

Alice is a top and dress with a trendy knot on the front hem. With a loose fit Alice is comfortable and play friendly all day.

Alice has a dropped shoulder which is finished with a binding, just like the neckline. You can choose to sew long sleeves, which get a nice detail with ruches close to the hem.

Alice is split along the center front piece, but you can choose to sew a whole front piece instead.

Skill level: 2/3 (Level guide).

Fabric: Light to medium weight knit fabric, such as jersey or college/french terry. The pattern is designed for fabrics with at least 30 % stretch. Use the stretch guide included in the pattern to evaluate your fabric.

This is an estimate of how much fabric you’ll need, based on 160 cm (63”) wide fabric that has not been pre-washed.

Elastic, 5 mm (1/8-1/4”) wide. For long sleeves only. Length:
Sizes 74-86: 2x8 cm (2x3”)
Sizes 92-116: 2x10 cm (2x4”)
Sizes 122-146: 2x12 cm (2x5”)

Sewing machine with stretch needle. A serger can also be used for most of the steps, but a sewing machine is just as fine.

Measure the child and choose a size based on the child’s length. You can also have a look at the chest width columns if you’d like an idea of how Alice will look on your child. Alice has a loose fit, with 7-11 cm ease. If you want to size up to make the garment fit the child longer, I recommend that you only increase length, not width.

Alice was designed for knit fabrics with at least 30% stretch. If your fabric has a lot more stretch, closer to 80%, you may want to consider to size down on width.
