Fabric: Fleece and other medium- to heavy weight fabrics with a little bit of stretch. Many have also sewn Wilma & Wide in woven fabrics, even though the pattern is designed for fabrics with some stretch.

For the front, back, sleeves, collar, hood: Medium or heavy weight fabric with 10-40% stretch, such as fleece or wool.
For sleeve cuffs: We recommend ribb fabric.
For the zipper facing, zipper pockets and collar lining: If your jacket fabric is heavy you can should consider using another fabric for these pieces, for example jersey, interlock or ribb.
For the binding: We recommend interlock or ribb fabric.

The fabric requirement below is an estimation for 150 cm (60”) wide fabrics, not preshrunk. We recommend you to add 20 cm extra if you’re purchasing new fabric for this project.

1 separating zipper. The zippers don’t need to have the exact length below, but it can’t be shorter. In the tutorial we show you how to shorten a zipper.

2 zipper stops, if you’re shortening your separating zipper.

2 non-separating zippers (if you’re sewing zipper pockets). The zipper doesn’t have to be the exact length stated on the next page, but it can’t be shorter.

Interfacing for the collar and zipper-pockets, fusible or sew-in.

Sewing machine needle in the appropriate size.

4-5 snap buttons and appropriate tools, if you’re sewing the hood.

Other useful tools: fabric glue marker, binder (not necessary), side nippers and pliers (if you’re shortening your separating zipper).

Choose size based on the child’s height and chest width. The jacket is designed to allow for the child to wear a sweater underneath.

For this pattern we recommend medium to heavy weight fleece fabrics with 10-40% stretch, or other similar fabrics. If your fabric has more stretch than 40% stretch we recommend you to size down on width.
